Mayor Arrigo Launches #RevereHeroes Series to Spotlight Acts of Bravery, Kindness and Selflessness
April 29, 2020 – The City of Revere’s Emergency Response Team continues to take proactive steps to slow community transmission of COVID-19 and establish strategies for longer-term recovery efforts. As of April 29, the Revere Board of Health has been notified by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health of 1,126 positive cases of COVID-19 in the City of Revere.
Today Mayor Arrigo announced #RevereHeroes, a series to spotlight the people of Revere who are going above and beyond – with acts of bravery, kindness and selflessness – in response to COVID-19 pandemic. A new hero will be recognized each Monday, Wednesday and Friday on the city's social media pages, and the public is encouraged to nominate heroes by sending their story to covid19@revere.org with the subject: Revere Hero.
"The stories I've heard over the past several weeks of people stepping up to serve our community, despite the unprecedented challenges we're all facing, has been truly inspiring," Mayor Arrigo said. "Revere Heroes is our way of recognizing all the incredible acts taking place across our city every day. We're going to get through this together thanks to all of the people who are choosing to put others first."
The first heroes featured are the crew members from Engine 4 Ladder 2, who earlier this month responded to a rapidly spreading basement fire and rescued two residents trapped on the second floor over ground ladders. The members of the entire Fire Department have been working overtime to keep Revere residents healthy and safe. Not only are they responding to a sharp increase in calls for assistance – COVID-19-related and otherwise – they continue to fight fires and save lives, all at great risk of contracting the virus themselves.
