Fire Department

The Revere Fire Department’s mission is to protect the lives and property of all Revere residents.  We respond to fires, medical emergencies, motor vehicle collisions, hazardous material incidents, technical rescue incidents, water rescues and all other incidents that threaten life, health and the environment.  We also prevent fires through aggressive code enforcement, investigations, and fire safety education.

Inspections and Permits

The Office of Fire Prevention is responsible for code enforcement, pre-construction plan review, issuing of permits, smoke detector certificate inspections and public education.

Residents and contractors are encouraged to visit the Fire Prevention Office at 400 Broadway using the rear entrance, or call Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 10:00 am and 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. at (781) 286-8363

To apply for a Fire Alarm System permit, which is necessary for installing all required smoke and fire detection systems in commercial and residential buildings, visit www.revere.org/permitting.

Fire Investigation Unit

The Fire Investigation Unit is responsible for determining the origin and cause of all fires and explosions that occur within the city.  The members of the FIU work closely with the Office of the State Fire Marshal as well as local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to investigate these incidents.  Fires that are a result of a criminal act are referred to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office for prosecution.

The FIU also works with the Revere School Department, Mass Department of Children and Families and the court system to refer children who set fires to a Juvenile Firesetters Intervention program.
