Modernizing City Operations
May 29, 2018
This week, Mayor Brian M. Arrigo was informed that the City of Revere has been awarded a $69,000 grant through the Community Compact Cabinet’s Information Technology grant program. The City will utilize these funds to implement an electronic Document Management System (DMS). A DMS is a database of scanner paper files that will enable departments to store, manage, and track electronic documents more efficiently.
“We are excited to utilize this innovative system,” said Mayor Arrigo “This is another step in the right direction to bring City services in to the 21st Century.”
“For decades, the City has become awash in paper,” the Mayor said. “Many departments currently spend many hours seeking information in existing files. A DMS system will enable departments to search files in seconds, boosting efficiency and operational performance.”
Furthermore, the Document Management System eliminates the possibility of losing any valuable information in the event of any kind of emergency or natural disaster. In addition, it will open up more office space crowded in paper to maximize operational capacity.
Lieutenant Governor Polito, who serves as Chair of the Community Compact Cabinet, congratulated Revere, “for striving to make your community a better place by virture of implementing best practices.”
