Back-to-School in Full Swing as Revere Students and Families Flock to School Dress Code Exchange and Amazon Backpack Giveaway Events

September 3, 2024

Revere, MA– Continuing the momentum from last week’s successful Amazon backpack giveaway, the City of Revere hosted a School Dress Code Exchange in conjunction with a second Amazon backpack giveaway on Thursday, August 29, at Sandler Square. As part of the ongoing partnership between the City of Revere and Amazon, Revere Public Schools families had the opportunity last Thursday, August 22, to choose from 1,000 backpacks filled with supplies at a back-to-school celebration event at Revere High School. This initiative carried over to the School Dress Code Exchange event, which was hosted in partnership with El Concilio Latino, the Revere Arabic Community, and Revere Public Schools.

Mayor Patrick M. Keefe Jr. expressed his enthusiasm for the event, saying, "This initiative is another fantastic way to support our students and families as they prepare for the new school year. We are committed to ensuring every student has what they need to succeed, and this event underscores our dedication to community-driven events and solutions."

Throughout August, the City of Revere collected school dress code items such as polos, khakis, dresses, and skirts. These items were redistributed to families today, providing an economically and environmentally sustainable solution for students who may have outgrown their uniforms or are starting at a new school this fall. The event offered a unique opportunity for families to ensure their children are equipped with the appropriate attire for the school year, in addition to backpacks, and other necessary school supplies.

The turnout at the event was impressive, marking yet another demonstration of the strong support for Revere Public Schools by the City of Revere, Mayor Keefe, and the local community. Partnerships with Amazon, El Concilio Latino, the Revere Arabic Community, and Revere Public Schools continue to make a meaningful impact across the City of Revere, ensuring that all students are well-equipped for a successful school year.
