Governor Baker Issued an Executive Order Prohibiting Gatherings of More Than 25 People and On-Premises Consumption of Food and Drink
This Order is in Effect from Tuesday, March 17, 2020 Through Sunday, April 5, 2020 – (unless further extended)
This Means Two Things
ONE: no businesses may serve food or drink (including alcoholic beverages) to be consumed on their premises. The order applies to restaurants, bars, hotels, clubs, veterans’ clubs, general on-premises, and continuing care retirement communities.
TWO: it is not allowed to have 25 or more people gathered in a single room or a single space at the same time in any confined indoor or outdoor space. This includes any staff members. Examples include: theater; stadium; auditorium; fitness center; gymnasium; private club.
WHAT IS ALLOWED
- Take-out and delivery of food only (NO alcoholic beverages!) – at this time, current operating hours still apply, as long as you restrict your service to take-out and delivery of food only
- Convenience stores, grocery stores, package stores may all remain open for normal business
WHAT IS PROHIBITED
- On-premises liquor license holders MAY NOT have alcoholic beverages delivered or offered for take-out – basically, you can’t sell liquor at all right now
- Self-service food or drink is not allowed
