Our mission is to cultivate a city where diversity is celebrated, equity is ensured, and inclusion is embedded in every facet of community life. We advocate and provide inclusive city services that prioritize fairness, representation, and equal access for all residents. We are committed to integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion into the delivery of city services to benefit all residents.

About Us

The Department of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is committed to promoting a city valuing and celebrating differences.
We work collaboratively with city employees, residents, businesses, and organizations to create policies and initiatives that ensure fairness, representation, and access for everyone.

We envision a city that embraces and leverages its diverse cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives to foster a thriving and harmonious community.  Through equity and inclusion, we aim to build bridges that connect people, enhance understanding, and promote social justice, creating a city that stands as a beacon of unity.

Our Core Principles

  • Inclusivity:  We are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where all voices are heard and respected.
  • Equity:  We advocate for fair and just policies that address systemic disparities and promote equal opportunities for all.
  • Education:  We strive to raise awareness and create understanding through educational programs that promote diversity and cultural competence.
  • Collaboration:  We believe in working together with various stakeholders to build a stronger, more united community.

Language Access Plan (LAP)

Our city is dedicated to ensuring that all residents, regardless of their primary language, have equal access to city services, information, and resources.
This Language Access Plan (LAP) outlines our commitment to breaking down language barriers and promoting inclusivity and effective communication.

Through this plan, we detail our strategies and initiatives to provide language assistance services, such as translation and interpretation, for individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP). Our goal is to create an environment where everyone can fully participate in and benefit from the opportunities our city offers.
