Revere Small Business Loan Program

The Revere Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD) has announced their Small Business Loan Program. In general, the loan limit will be $35,000. For loan requests determined to have significant job and business growth potential, the loan limit may be extended up to a maximum of $75,000.

Businesses must have a physical location within the community and be income eligible. This requirement ensures that the funding directly supports local enterprises and contributes to our neighborhood's economic growth. Businesses must also meet Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program criteria.

Please ensure that your business meets these requirements before submitting your application. For further inquiries or clarification on eligibility, feel free to contact Tarik Maddrey or John Festa or call the DPCD office.

If you are interested, the application is available here in English and Spanish. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.

You can read more about the program's policies and procedures here (English) and aquí (español).

The City of Revere is committed to providing safe and slow streets for all its road users, including bicyclists, motorists, pedestrians, and people with disabilities. Traffic Calming is a key tool the city is using to achieve this goal.

Traffic Calming measures are defined as the combination of measures that reduce the negative effects of motor vehicle use, alter driver behavior, and improve conditions for non-motorized street users. Traffic calming consists of physical design and other measures put in place on existing roads to reduce vehicle speeds and improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

Commercial Leasing Handbook

This guide to commercial lease negotiation is intended to help new entrepreneurs looking for space learn how to navigate a commercial lease, the questions they can ask, and the people they can talk to. It may also help more seasoned business owners who need to relocate. While it is tailored to Somerville, the message applies to other communities in Massachusetts. It is available in four languages. The work was funded by a Community Compact Cabinet Best Practices Program grant, completed by the City of Somerville with technical assistance from MAPC. The Lease Handbook: Protecting Your Small Business.

Technical Assistance Resources

Traffic Calming Policy

The City of Revere is committed to providing safe and slow streets for all its road users, including bicyclists, motorists, pedestrians, and people with disabilities. Traffic Calming is a key tool the city is using to achieve this goal.

Traffic Calming measures are defined as the combination of measures that reduce the negative effects of motor vehicle use, alter driver behavior, and improve conditions for non-motorized street users. Traffic calming consists of physical design and other measures put in place on existing roads to reduce vehicle speeds and improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

Traffic Calming Measures provide many benefits that include:

• Reducing vehicle speeds and increased driver attentiveness
• Reducing dangerous driving behaviors, reducing the frequency and severity of collisions
• Improving safety for pedestrians, people with disabilities, bicyclist, strollers and users of public transit
• Reducing the need for police enforcement
• Enhancing the street environment
• Preserving neighborhood character and livability
• Increasing access for all modes of transportation
• Reducing cut-through motor vehicle traffic

The City of Revere’s new Traffic Calming Policy looks to create a clear, data-driven process to develop Traffic Calming strategies throughout the city.  The policy includes a list of potential calming strategies, and overview of the approvals process, and a petition that must be submitted in order to initiate your traffic calming strategy.

Read more about the approvals process here. You can download a Traffic Calming Petition here.

If you have any questions about the policy, please contact Julie Demauro.

When you are ready to submit a petition, please contact your Ward Councillor.
